Covid-19: New health strategy of the City Government

The Government of the City of Buenos Aires gave details about the new measures that it is going to implement within the framework of the health situation.

The health strategy has four pillars:

1) Strengthening the health system: the City Government made the decision to reschedule those interventions that are not urgent in order to have as many beds as possible for coronavirus patients.

2) The strategy of tracking, testing, isolation and follow-up of close contacts: today in the City anyone who has symptoms, who has been in close contact or who lives with someone infected is tested. In addition, testing continues for health personnel and the entire educational system every two weeks, and for all tourists who have gone on a trip for more than 4 days to more than 150 kilometers. Now, with the new situation, the Government of the City of Buenos Aires decided to increase the number of tests and enable the La Rural and Costa Salguero centers, which were exclusively for tourists and teachers, so that those who have had close contact can be tested. , but show no symptoms. People with symptoms can go to the Febrile Emergency Units in hospitals. There are two of them that already work 24 hours a day. The rest are open from 8 am to midnight.

3) Vaccination: the logistical deployment includes 300 vaccination points and 2,000 people who work throughout the system ready to vaccinate as the National Government delivers the doses. All those over 80 who registered have already been vaccinated and, if the delivery of the promised vaccines is fulfilled, those over 70 who have registered will continue.

4) Individual responsibility as a society: It is essential that both locals and tourists continue with all the necessary preventive measures: wear a mask, keep their distances, ventilate the environments, avoid encounters in closed environments, wash their hands and strictly comply with the protocols of each activity.
