Protocol for opening hotels

The Ministry of Tourism and Sports and the main chambers that bring together entrepreneurs from the tourism sector developed the first protocols so that they can be applied when hotel activity resumes .

Protocol for tourist accommodation

- Comply with the hygiene and distance guidelines during the check in and check out processes. Enable, if possible, virtual pre-check in, to make the process faster. Incorporate digital means to upload personal information.

- Signpost the spaces for waiting attention shifts, with an interpersonal distance of at least 2 meters. The occupancy density cannot exceed one person every 2.25 square meters at any time.

- In a first stage, avoid the bell boy service and valet parking, which involve handling guests' belongings. Offer it only when the passenger cannot do it by himself. Allow each client to keep their own vehicle.

- Offer payment alternatives with credit cards or digital media.

- Use a mailbox or urn to deposit the keys or magnetic cards at the end of the stay, for disinfection prior to reuse.

- Arrange the furniture of the different common spaces respecting the recommended distances. If the minimum distance cannot be maintained, install partitions or glass panels.

- In elevators, the individual use should be suggested or it should not occupy more than 30% of the surface of the cabin.

- In principle, do not allow entry to the pool, spa and gym, unless the health authority of each jurisdiction indicates otherwise. This could vary depending on the phase of the pandemic.

- Also make breakfast hours more flexible and with prior reservation of hours. Napkins must be made of paper.

- Each establishment should have adequate places for frequent hand washing with soap and water, and 70% alcohol-based solutions (for example, alcohol gel) should be made available.
