Timbre 4

Boedo
Timbre4 is a space where theater takes place. A place of research and production that since 2001 has been growing and developing, combining the artistic pursuits of the theatrical challenge with connection and dialogue towards an increasingly wide audience.

The history of Timbre 4 could be summarized as follows: it began as the house of director Claudio Tolcachir, located in Boedo 640 , which basically had a theater in which a company performed, as well as an actor training workshop. After 16 years, it has multiplied into three spaces that are located in the same neighborhood with rooms and permanent programming, as well as linking activities with other countries, such as the Temporada Alta Festival, which arrives every February from Catalonia.

It began to function in the midst of a crisis, in 2002, due to the desire of a group of artists who wanted to generate their own theatrical movement to face the context. The first premiere was Jamón del diablo , inspired by the work 300 million by Roberto Arlt, but the great leap occurred in 2005 with La omisión de la familia Coleman , which became a success and opened the doors to other venues in Buenos Aires. and the world.

Later came other productions that today are classics of the company such as Tercer cuerpo, El viento en un violín, Emilia, Dínamo , or Próximo , all signed by Tolcachir.

Room layout
In Mexico 3554 the large room is located, in which works with more ambitious scenography and technique are usually scheduled. Meanwhile, in Boedo 640 -where the original theater is located, which also has its billboard-, they recently added a small room for experimental proposals, still wearing the cap.

The general producer of the complex, Jonathan Zak, said that the new space was designed, among other things, to bring the public an even more accessible alternative. Meanwhile, the theater coordinator, Mónica Acevedo added: “The new room has a capacity for 39 spectators and was designed for short-term proposals (no more than 40 minutes). Our idea is to cover other types of shows that generate a different language ” .

"We do what is necessary to make the theater happen and everything is done in a self-managed way," explained Zak about the activity of this theatrical complex that offers an interesting experience, which includes a tour of photographs and scenographies, books and a varied gastronomic proposal in the main bar.

Going out to find the viewer, but also conquering other audiences are goals that the Timbre 4 team has in mind, that is why six years ago they held the Temporada Alta Festival , an extension of the same meeting that took place in Girona, Catalonia. “It is recognized as a gateway for many companies. We did it in February with a curator of works from the same festival, " said Acevedo.

As the general producer explained, all these activities give meaning to this undertaking that functions as a space for creation, training and programming: "It is a place where theater does well ."
