Cemetery of Recoleta

Recoleta
The cemetery is a work of art.

More than 90 vaults are National Historic Monument. Its architectural value shows the times in which Argentina was an emerging economic power and the main families competed to build splendid pantheons.

It was built in 1822 as the first public cemetery and its layout is the work of the French engineer Prospero Catelin.
