Feria del Libro Infantil y Juvenil

During the winter holidays, the Buenos Aires Convention Center once again fills with stories, illustrations, workshops and shows. The Children’s and Young Adult Book Fair invites everyone to discover that reading can also mean playing, creating and sharing with family.

There are memories that begin long before finishing a book. An afternoon choosing a story among shelves, an author signing a copy, a narration that makes an entire room laugh, or a child discovering they want to read again as soon as they close the last page.

This is the essence of the 34th Children’s and Young Adult Book Fair, which this winter returns to the Buenos Aires Convention Center with a renewed proposal to turn reading into a shared experience. More than a fair, it is a space where stories step out of books to meet their readers.

Much more than a book fair

Although books are the protagonists, the journey invites visitors to live many different experiences. More than 70 stands bring together publishers, bookstores and imprints specializing in children’s and young adult literature, with new releases, classics and proposals for all ages.

As visitors move through the spaces, live storytelling, clown shows, theater plays, music, creative workshops, illustration proposals and participatory activities transform the visit into a dynamic outing. Two cultural plazas within the venue function as permanent stages where there is always something to discover throughout the day.

The result is an environment where curious readers, families, teachers, illustrators and young people find new ways to approach literature.

A gathering to imagine together

In times when screens occupy much of everyday life, the fair proposes a different pause. Not out of nostalgia, but from the possibility of discovering that a book can also be an interactive experience.

Meetings with writers and illustrators allow visitors to learn how characters are born, where ideas come from and what happens behind each story. Workshops invite participants to write, draw, create comics and experiment with different artistic languages, while stage proposals turn stories into music, movement and play.

For many children, the visit also represents their first direct contact with authors or illustrators, an experience that often leaves a mark as important as the book they choose to take home.

A tradition that grows with new readers

The Children’s and Young Adult Book Fair has been part of Buenos Aires’ cultural calendar for more than three decades and continues to renew itself with each edition. This year it returns to the Buenos Aires Convention Center, the venue where it began, with an expanded space and a program that doubles the proposals to enjoy during the winter holidays.

Its growth also reflects a transformation in children’s literature. Today, picture books, graphic novels, poetry, science, non-fiction, comics and informational books coexist, engaging diverse interests.

This variety makes the fair a place where every reader can find a book that represents them, regardless of age.

A plan to enjoy the city during holidays

Located next to the Law School, the National Museum of Fine Arts and the parks of Recoleta, the Convention Center allows visitors to combine the fair with other outdoor or cultural outings in the neighborhood.

Thus, a morning in the plazas can continue with an afternoon of stories, workshops and shows, building a journey where culture accompanies the rhythm of the holidays.

Because reading is also a way of traveling. And during these weeks, Buenos Aires opens a door for thousands of children, young people and adults to discover new stories without leaving the city.
