Guided Tour of San Telmo

We invite you to join a guided walk through one of the city’s most iconic neighborhoods. In just ninety minutes, you’ll discover hidden corners, stories, and curiosities of San Telmo—part of Buenos Aires’ foundational Historic Quarter.

📍 Plaza Dorrego, the city’s second-oldest square after Plaza de Mayo, remains the heart of the neighborhood with its famous antiques fair. Defensa Street, which once linked the Plaza Mayor to the port of La Boca, still pulses with the commercial and urban energy that made it essential.

San Telmo has that unique blend: bohemian spirit, cobblestone streets, low houses, shared courtyards, historic bars, and that southern air you can feel on every corner. As a Protected Historic Area, it preserves architectural gems like the “casa chorizo,” the San Lorenzo Passage, the 1896 Market, the former women’s prison, and the Parish of San Pedro González Telmo.

The circuit includes:

  • Mafalda Monument

  • Casa Mínima

  • Zanjón de Granados

  • Old Immigrants’ Hotel

  • Rawson School

  • San Pedro González Telmo Parish

  • Former Women’s Prison – Mercedes Sosa Cultural Center

  • Plaza Dorrego

  • Solar de French Gallery

  • San Telmo Market

The tour is free, takes place on foot, and requires prior registration. It will be canceled in case of bad weather.
