No more upside down chairs: the bars and restaurants campaign

The gastronomic sector launched this weekend a campaign on social networks with the hashtag no más #SillasAlReves , demanding to reopen the doors of the businesses and return to work . According to figures from the sector, 90 gastronomic establishments close per day and the sector lost 75% of its work since the beginning of social isolation.

Under the slogan no more chairs turned upside down, owners and representatives of different venues contacted through a WhatsApp group and organized to change the profile photo of their Instagram accounts, in addition to publishing a black and white photo of their given chairs back on the tables.

Among the orders of the campaign is a reduction in VAT of 50%; reduction of labor charges; that the ATP minimum extends until March; gross income exemption and immediate opening under strict protocols.

However, the normality of the gastronomy of Buenos Aires, as it was before the pandemic, seems unattainable. "For us, normality is not going to return. I don't know if when we come back people will go out for beer. It's almost impossible. We are just trying to survive the closure," laments one of the owners.
