The Dance Championship was started

Organized by the Ministry of Culture of the City of Buenos Aires, began a new edition of Tango Buenos Aires, City Dance Championship 2018 . It will be held until May 20 in milongas, cultural spaces and at the Usina del Arte.

The opening was on Wednesday at the Espacio Cultural Julián Centeya (Av. San Juan 3255) with Pablo Ramos & Los Herederos del compás as a guest orchestra.

Registration will be available up to 24 hours before the start of the competition at each venue, through the web buenosaires.gob.ar/festivales or personally at the Usina del Arte (Agustín R. Caffarena 1, La Boca) from Monday to Friday from 12 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The championship categories are "Track Tango" (Adult and Senior), "Milonga" , "Milongueros del mundo" and "Vals" . The preliminary rounds of the Championship will take place in the Cultural Spaces Julián Centeya, the Resurgence and Carlos Gardel (with free admission) and in different milongas. The semifinals and final, with free entry, will take place at the Usina del Arte.
The "Tango de Pista" champions will represent the City in the final of the 2018 Dance World Cup at Luna Park; the pairs that obtain of the second to the fifth position in that category and the winners of "Milongueros of the world" will classify of direct way for the semifinals.

The Championship has a jury composed of 44 members: 3 in each venue during the qualifying rounds, 5 in each semifinal and 7 during the grand final.

  • Friday, May 18, 6 pm: Semifinals of Vals y Milonga , Usina del Arte. Exhibition by Lida Mantovani & Alejandro Andrian.
  • Saturday 19 May 18 hs: Semifinals of Track Tango and Milongueros del Mundo , Usina del Arte. Exhibition by Jimena Hoeffner & Paulo Bidart.
  • Sunday May 20 6 pm: Grand Final of the City Championship , Usina del Arte. Tango Stories Show with Mirta Álvarez & Mayumi Urgino more invited dancers.

Entrance information

  • The entrance to the headquarters of the Cultural Spaces is free and free.
  • The tickets to the milongas are paid and the amounts vary according to each milonga.
  • Tickets for the semifinals and final are free. They retire at Usina del Arte two hours before the start of competitions until the capacity of the room is exhausted. Two tickets per person will be delivered.
