Solar de la Abadía

Las Cañitas
El Solar de la Abadía is a shopping center located in front of the Abadía de San Benito, in Las Cañitas. Conceived as a meeting point for the people of the area, it opened its doors in 1995 where in the past a carbon dioxide factory had operated. The building was recycled without losing its essence and, therefore, it preserves details of the old power plant such as brick and exposed beams, in the most faithful English style. The construction was carried out by the prestigious architectural firm Bodas-Miani-Anger which received, in May 1997, the Maxi Award for Innovative Design and Architecture.

El Solar has everything you would expect when it comes to walking and shopping: a full food court, a café bar and an interesting variety of select clothing, technology and accessories stores. Since its inception, cultural, recreational and entertainment activities have been carried out there for the 400 thousand people who visit it every month. Among some of the activities and services that define El Solar as a different shopping center, there are book presentations, cooking classes; fashion shows; exhibitions and painting samples; live musical show; fashion and beauty classes, recreational workshops for children and promotions.
