Apollo Theater

In 1886, the city of Buenos Aires has about ten theater halls to which the construction of the Apolo Theater is added. With an audience of twenty rows, plus seventy-two boxes, stands at 1382 Corrientes Street, still narrow, between Uruguay and Talcahuano.

The construction took a long time and could only be inaugurated in March 1892 with a function performed for the benefit of the charity ladies with the work in three acts Divorcemonos, interpreted by the company of the Spanish Concepción Aranaz. Since then, the most diverse interpreters, companies and genres have performed on its stage: comedies, dramas, musical shows, dances, and even counterpoints of payadores, with the participation of a long list of authors, actors, directors, musicians and singers, among which Luis Arata, Guillermo Battaglia, Olinda Bozán, Eloísa Cañizares, Roberto Casaux, Andrés Chazarreta, Enrique Santos Discépolo, Carlos Gardel, Miguel Ligero, Tito Lusiardo, Lola Membrives, Tita Merello, Delfy de Ortega, Roberto Payró, Francisco Petrone, Podestá brothers, Horacio Quiroga, the Ratti brothers, Enrique Serrano, Leonor Rinaldi, Abel Santa Cruz, Perla Santalla, Paulina Singerman, Alberto Vaccarezza, among many others.
