What to do in Buenos Aires when it rains

Buenos Aires is beautiful from where you look at it. Its architectural, cultural and historical richness generates endless programs to do and that is why no one gets bored.

Is the weather not good? In Buenos Aires it is not a problem. Here is a short list of what to do if it rains, the heat melts everything or the cold freezes to the bone.

Art, art, art: The Usina del Arte offers almost every day an exhibition worthy of a visit but, as if that were not enough reason to visit it, its architecture, rooms and auditorium intrigue and captivate those who visit it. It offers 45-minute guided tours where you can learn both its interior and the history of the building and the artistic activities that are currently taking place. Entrance is free and open.

The Museum of Natural Sciences: It is the oldest museum in Argentina, founded in 1823 by inspiration of Bernardino Rivadavia. The building, located in the Centennial Park, was built for this purpose and therefore has numerous decorative details referring to the native flora and fauna. In addition, it has one of the most complete collections in Latin America with thematic rooms on Paleontology, Geology, amphibians, reptiles and arthropods, among others. The entrance costs $ 150 pesos and children under 6 years old are free.

The Grand Splendid Athenaeum: A literature lover's paradise. It was chosen as the second most important bookstore in the world by the British newspaper The Guardian. It has two floors and a basement, reading and exhibition rooms and a bar on the old stage to enjoy a good coffee and a while of reading. An ideal activity for those who appreciate the wonders of reading.

Café Tortoni: It is the oldest café in Buenos Aires. Located in Monserrat, its walls breathe stories and transport back to the time when renowned artists, such as Borges, Federico García Lorca, Gardel and Cortázar were inspired to create their magnificent works that would leave a mark on world history. In addition to enjoying the best coffee and other dishes that the cafe offers for lunch or dinner, jazz and tango shows and shows are offered in the place.

The Argentinean experience: It is a restaurant located in Fitz Roy 2110, dedicated to showing the dishes that identify the country such as empanadas and asado. It is an experience for those who want to learn more about our culture or simply enjoy regional products.

Family activities: The Children's Museum is located inside the Shopping Abasto and represents a world adapted to the size of the little ones. There the children will find scenarios of adult life such as the supermarket, making hamburgers for a fast food chain, commanding a ship, hosting a TV show or moving to a candy house. It is for boys between 0 and 12 years old. Entrance fee: $ 400 and there is a discount for adults.

Weekends with history: La Casa Rosada, or Government House, is one of the most emblematic buildings in Buenos Aires and was declared a National Historic Monument. Visiting it is going through some of the most important corridors in Argentine history, with their rooms and very valuable objects. Guided tours are held every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. with prior reservation at www.visitas.casarosada.gob.ar.
