Bar Plaza Dorrego

San Telmo
A real cafe with nostalgic memories. They lose references, it invades everything.

Rare mix: lit with yellow lights, five working ceiling fans, wooden shelves where old bottles of gin, anise and cognac alternate, white and black checkerboard mosaics. The walls are covered by yellowish photos, one by Carlos Gardel and another by the poet Alfredo Le Pera. With preferential location, the photo that relives one of the most glorious moments of the bar, the meeting between Jorge Luis Borges and Ernesto Sábato, with a coffee in between. Several little signs filleted by León Untroib offer lomitos and varieties of sandwiches.

Its worn wooden tables are all written, with declarations of love, both towards a woman and towards Boca or River (writing done with keys, punches or penknives). In some of them, they once drank coffee, Robert De Niro, Eric Clapton and Robert Duvall. An "L" shaped wooden counter is located in the center of the room, sporting an old cash register.

One of the waiters, who dresses in black and white, carries on his tray a bottle of red wine and a bite for two. The bandoneón of "Pichuco" (famous Argentine tanguero) makes vibrate, with a tango the place.
