The Obelisk unveils its new panoramic viewpoint at 67.5 meters high, accessible by elevator. From the top, you'll experience Buenos Aires like never before, right in the heart of the Plaza de la República, where 9 de Julio and Corrientes avenues intersect.
Access to the Obelisk viewpoint is via the monument’s internal staircase, so it is not recommended for people with reduced mobility, vertigo, or fear of heights.
To go up, first, head to the Plaza de la República, at the junction of Corrientes and 9 de Julio. Eight steps and a state-of-the-art glass elevator have been installed, taking you straight to the top in just one minute.
In addition to the elevator, a spiral metal staircase wraps around it, serving as an emergency exit. Once at the top, where the elevator ends, you’ll need to climb 35 more steps to reach the windows that offer breathtaking views of Buenos Aires. At the very tip of the Obelisk, four openings provide a unique perspective of the city, making it one of the best viewpoints in town.
Along with installing the elevator, restoration work was carried out to preserve the Obelisk’s historical integrity and upgrade its electrical systems.
Throughout May, as part of the celebrations for the Obelisk’s 89th anniversary, you can join free guided tours with limited capacity. To participate, you must register in advance via the link in the bio of @baparticipacionciudadana on Instagram. The activity is free, but spots are limited, and confirmation is sent by email.
