Butterfly Garden at the Botanical Garden

The Butterfly Garden at the Botanical Garden is a unique and charming space that allows visitors to enjoy the beauty and diversity of butterflies in a natural habitat. It was inaugurated in April 2014 and occupies an area of 500 square meters.

Unlike a traditional butterfly house, where they are confined in a greenhouse, in this garden, butterflies feed and reproduce outdoors, attracted by more than 3,000 plants that provide them with food and suitable places to lay their eggs. The design of the garden emulates a large butterfly and features cobblestone paths that allow children to explore it accompanied by a specialized guide.

Among the species that can be observed are the monarch (danaus erippus), the glasswing (agraulis vanillae maculosa), the bataraza (ortilia ithra), and the lemon (eurema deva deva); along with 25 other native species, they find in this space an ideal refuge to complete their life cycle, from egg to adult butterfly.

The Butterfly Garden not only offers a visually attractive experience but also has an educational purpose. Throughout the tour, visitors can learn about the different stages of butterfly development and the importance of biodiversity through informative signs.

It is a unique opportunity to connect with nature in the middle of the city, schedule your visit!
