One of the historic cafés founded in 1887. It is part of the notable bars and is one of the three oldest houses in the City of Buenos Aires. It is located one block south of the Plaza de Mayo, in the Monserrat neighborhood. It is a good place to have a drink. The cuisine is international. They serve excellent coffees and pastries made at the establishment. The old photographs that decorate the walls show the rich past and the films that have been filmed in it.

Since 1999, the Legislature of the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires has declared La Puerto Rico as a "Site of Cultural Interest".
