Mercado de Belgrano

Belgrano
Located in Juramento between Ciudad de la Paz and Amenábar, the Belgrano Market is one of the most emblematic places in the neighborhood due to its age and the quality and variety of its products.

In recent times it stopped being a supply center and became an ideal place to take a walk or go out to eat. It has an internal patio and a terrace with tables and chairs where you can enjoy the products bought in one of its stores such as Casa Polti, an old dietitian famous for its spices; the Basilio fish shop; a high-level wine cellar; several naturist houses, delicatessens and greengrocers.

Among the “gourmet” gastronomic places, we can highlight Cucina Paradiso, the Italian food restaurant of the renowned international chef Donato de Santis; the Orno pizzeria; Verde, dedicated to vegan food, and a branch of the “La Dorita” grill. There are also places for Arabic and Japanese food and an ice cream parlor.

A little history

The old market was inaugurated in 1976, after the writer Rafael Hernández donated the land. For years, the shopping promenade ran under the open sky on what is now Plaza Norway, behind the current premises. With a change of location, within the property that occupies more than half a block, the City Government decided to value the old market, improving its building structure and renewing its setting and its commercial offer with a focus on gastronomy. Currently, it is managed by a cooperative made up of the merchants themselves.
