Planetario Galileo Galilei

Palermo
The Galileo Galilei Planetarium, located at the intersection of Avenida General Sarmiento and Belisario Roldán, within Parque Tres de Febrero, is the main center for the dissemination of astronomy in Buenos Aires. Its interior is unique and magical: a hemispherical projection room with three hundred and sixty reclining seats and a dome of twenty meters in diameter where about 8,900 stars, planets and satellites of the universe are reproduced by means of a spectacular equipment -the only one in Latin America- that contains six Sky-Skan projectors with 8K resolution.

Its five-story building also has a museum and a secondary projection room, as well as a collection of meteorites from northern Argentina. On the lake is the sculpture Surprised, by the Italian Nicolás A. Ferrari and, a few meters away, an evocative monolith of the Polish sage Nicolás Copernicus.

During 2017, on the occasion of its 50th anniversary, its building -declared Historical and Cultural Heritage of the City-, was restored and valued respecting its original appearance and aesthetics. From the park it is possible to enjoy 50 meters of translucent LED screens and a remote management system so that the Planetarium is illuminated in a coordinated way with six other key points in Buenos Aires: the Obelisk, the Monument of the Spanish, the May Pyramid , the Woman's Bridge, the Floralis Generic and the Monumental Tower.
