The Hole Bar

Palermo
With a menu of premium drinks and cocktails designed by renowned bartenders, The Hole is one of the many wonderful speakeasy bars in Buenos Aires, inspired by the true hidden bars that operated in the United States in times of prohibited alcohol.

Going to The Hole is to go back to the San Francisco of the 30s and live the Alcatraz experience, the emblematic maximum security prison located on an island near the city through which legendary prisoners such as Al Capone, Robert Franklin Stroud (the " Birdman of Alcatraz "), Bumpy Johnson, James" Whitey "Bulger and Alvin Karpis.

To enter you have to wait for the guard of the "penitentiary" to open the metal door. Once inside, the door closes and diners are led by a police officer to the main hall. Along the way, a life-size cell appears, where everyone takes photos and, once in the courtyard, the typical old telephone used by inmates, “Wanted” posters and an original car of the time, at best Al Capone's Cadillac style parked.

With dim lighting, waiters dressed as guards and bartenders wearing the famous orange overalls, The Hole is a somewhat gloomy place with cells spread over its two floors and a large bar that boasts endless bottles with which exotic and original drinks are made . Some of the most captivating ingredients are the coffee and chocolate bitters made with an osmosis process, the cucumber and eucalyptus paints, and the coconut water to make Martinis. The menu offers options for all tastes, with sweet and classic cocktails and other more tropical and dry ones. The dishes, all finger food (hamburger with potatoes, sushi or potatoes with cheddar), are served on metal trays in the best prison style.
