Bárbaro was born in 1969 from the inspiration of a group of avant-garde plastic artists, headed by Luis Felipe Noé, Rómulo Maccio, Ernesto Deira and Jorge de la Vega, recognized under the name Nueva Figuración. From this unprejudiced attitude, the first pub in Buenos Aires was born, which soon became a privileged space of the cultural environment.

Among its laureates, the Bárbaro integrates the set of 'notable bars', as declared by the Legislature of the City of Buenos Aires. It is also protected by the Commission Protection and Promotion of the notable cafes, bars, billiards and confectioneries of the City of Buenos Aires.

Currently, the Bárbaro is a redoubt very visited by travelers and tourists, locals and foreigners; and it is assiduously attended by the most outstanding plastic artists, painters, writers, musicians and actors.
