Buenos Aires is a safe city, but like any large metropolis, it requires taking certain precautions. For example, it is advisable not to leave bags and purses hanging from chairs in public places or walk at night on poorly lit streets.
For any questions, consultations, or complaints, the city has two public agencies that can be of great help: the Tourist Ombudsman and the Tourist Police Station.
Tourist Ombudsman
If during your visit to the City of Buenos Aires you suffer any kind of mistreatment, abuse, or discrimination, you can contact the Tourist Ombudsman. Their phone number is (+5411) 5295 6906.
You can also visit any of their eight offices in person. The main office is located at Av. Paseo Colón 484, in the Monserrat neighborhood. It is available Monday to Friday from 10 am to 7 pm. Contact email: turistacentral@defensoria.org.ar
Tourist Police Station
The Tourist Police Station is a specialized body responsible for ensuring the safety and integrity of national or foreign tourists visiting Buenos Aires.
Its main feature is that it has highly qualified police officers, trained in interpersonal relations and proficient in multiple languages (English, French, Italian, Japanese, and Portuguese), which allows them to meet the needs of the tourist population enjoying the attractions that the City of Buenos Aires offers.

Sex Tourism
In Argentina, sex tourism and human trafficking for sexual exploitation are severely punished by law. The free hotline 102 is available to report any case of commercial sexual exploitation or violation of the rights of children and adolescents. This line belongs to the Council for the Rights of Girls, Boys, and Adolescents of the Government of the City of Buenos Aires.
